FRENCH WINES
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is, after Marseilles, the oldest port in France- it welcomed Crassus and his Roman legions in 56 B.C. Granting, as we must, that the best wines are the wines that we like the best, their is no denying the fact that the vineyards of Bordeaux produce wines of the highest quality in greater quantities and also in greater variety than any other vineyards of France.
Red
Red wines of Bordeaux are chiefly comprised of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, and the Malbec grape. Beaujolais is comprised solely from the Gamay grape.
